This Monday, First Lady Melania took the opportunity to board a plane to make surprise visit to a middle school in Bloomfield, Hills, Michigan, a suburb area in Detroit in order to take preventive measures in the fight against bullying and cyber-bullying as well.
The FLOTUS has been active in raising awareness for an issue that a great number of children are dealing with every day, but have no courage to speak openly about because they may be threatened. Melania, encouraged the students in her classic style while they were in the cafeteria, as well as the grownups, to show the children how should treat each other.
After a while she made new friends and met with other children when she sat in on a sixth grade classroom debate on social and emotional inclusion.
“I always believe that you need to treat each other with respect and kindness and compassion, but also stay true to yourself. Just listen to your heart, but be yourself,” said the first lady to the students in the classroom.
Then, the FLOTUS inspired the students to walk around and find a new friend with whom they would have lunch together, and it seems she spent a great time since few days later, the FLOTUS shared a video of her spending time with the children once again on Twitter.
